It’s day 1 on The Plan by Lyn-Genet Recitas. We put it off too long and after Thanksgiving, holidays, Joe’s birthday, restaurant week, and so on, we finally start!
Surprising thoughts:
- I don’t crave my usual sugary foods in the morning.
- I thought water would be more of an issue as in I wouldn’t have enough. I guess the lemon does help with hydration. Stopping all food/water at 7:30pm is not as hard as expected.
- The water in lemon is surprisingly tasty!
- From our first attempts, the carrot ginger soup is much better and same for spicy coco sauce. Before, both are gross. Joe likes his so much that he actually saves the little but leftover from his dinner as to not waste any.
- I’m getting the hang of the flax granola. The blueberries aren’t the same effect as dark chocolate but I’m still satisfied. I still love the coconut milk.
- I don’t suffer any of the detox symptoms discussed in the book. Although I don’t drink coffee or caffeinated drinks anyway.
Stats:
Day 1
- Morning weight: 120.6
- Morning temperature: 96.3
- Total water should be 60 oz but actually estimated closer to 64 but not exact. I am refilling a 30oz Yeti filled to the max with ice. In initial tests, there is approximately 16 oz of water give or take some ice melting.
Breakfast
- 16 oz dandelion tea
- flax granola with blueberries, coconut milk
- 16 oz water with lemon
Lunch
- 16 oz water with lemon
- carrot ginger soup with sunflower seeds
- broccoli with orange oil
- mixed greens, 1/2 pear, pumpkin seeds
Snack
- apple
Dinner
- 16 oz water
- beet and carrot salad with pumpkin seeds
- roasted vegetables with spicy coco sauce
- sautéed kale
Exceptions:
- sunflower seeds are roasted and salted
- ratio of brown sugar and salt are higher than called for in the spicy coco recipe
- dandelion tea happened before the water with lemon in the morning
Breakfast is transported in ziploc bags and a glass container.
The bulk of lunch is in ziploc bags again.
Dinner is in proper bowls. Water is still Yeti.
Yay! I’m so glad you guys are doing this. You’ll be a believer like I have been for the last 4yrs. It becomes part of daily life.
Thanks for blogging about The Plan! Looking forward to following your progress!
