The wedding is coming up fast and it’s time to choose some wine for the masses. This is a three step procedure. Plus, I’m a bit overdue for a C story.
Step 1. Acquire wines
We pop over to the Winestore (yes, that’s the name and yes, its FAB). We ask for recommendations that are budget friendly (read: cheap) and crowd pleasing (read: not gross).
Here’s my shameless plug for the Winestore. This is my new favorite place for wine. They rival my beloved Costco in terms of price (gasp!) and their customer service is excellent. Plus their occasion list on their website for wines is pretty awesome.
Step 2. Test wines
Since neither Joe or I are wine connoisseurs, we decide to poll our constituents. Basically, we invite our friends over who are the very people who will be drinking this wine. We toss a few snacks on the table and Joe puts a muzzle on the dog (this is literal).
I’ve linked back to the Winestore descriptions. This is not a blind tasting. We start with the whites (#5, #4) then try the reds (#3, #2, #1) and yes, I ordered these backwards clearly.

- Winestore comments: crowd pleasing, the house wine of several local country clubs
Wine 4 – Mont Gravet – Colombard, 2016, France, $7.99

Wine 2 – Evodia – Garnacha, 2015, Spain, $7.99
- Peanut gallery comments: 4/5, spicier, sweet, prefer other reds better
- Winestore comments: quality for price
Wine 1 – Gerberas Garnacha – Garnacha, 2016, Spain, $6.99 << WINNER >>
- Peanut gallery comments: 4/5, favorite of the reds
- Winestore comments: crowd pleasing
Step 3. Pick Winner
In the end, there are two clear winners – one red and one white. They are both recommended from the Winestore as “crowd pleasing” and they happen to be the cheapest of the bunch.
Considering we have a fun night of eating, drinking wine, chatting, AND we we pick out our wedding wines, I’d say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
